On Feb. 28, a two-vehicle accident in Whitefish Bay resulted in two adults being transported to a local hospital with injuries. The auto accident took place during the afternoon near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Birch Avenue.
According to a Whitefish Bay police sergeant, the incident occurred when a vehicle traveling north on Santa Monica did not yield to a vehicle traveling southbound in the oncoming lane as it was turning onto Birch. This caused the vehicle that was traveling southbound to hit a tree on a residential property. Both drivers sustained injuries that required treatment at a local hospital, but the injuries were reported to be life-threatening.
In this car accident, one driver’s negligent actions resulted in injury to another driver as well as potential property damage to the owner of the nearby property. The victim who sustained injuries may endure potential lost wages, medical expenses and other costs related to the accident. Both the injured victim and the affected property owner may consider filing a personal injury lawsuit to seek financial compensation and hold the negligent driver liable.
Car accidents may result in considerable expenses for all parties involved. When a car accident is the result of the negligent or intentional actions of one party, the victims of the car accident have the right to pursue justice in a civil court. By filing a personal injury lawsuit, they may obtain punitive damages to ease the financial burden they face as well as closure after a potentially traumatic event. Those who would like to learn more about their legal rights after being involved in a car accident would do well to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer.
