Professional drivers also struggled to control Porsche

The details of the accident that killed Paul Walker of "Fast and Furious" fame are reasonably well-known at this point. However, another fact about the car accident is beginning to emerge, and it's coming from the world of professional drivers. They have known for many years that the Porsche Carrera GT was especially difficult to drive, and some even called it dangerous.

Honda minivan owners cautioned on brakes in recall announcement

Appleton drivers of Honda Motor Company minivans should be aware that the car maker announced plans to recall some 344,000 of its Odyssey models. The recall was over concerns about a software problem that made the vehicle's brakes unexpectedly engage, which could cause auto accidents. The glitch could make it possible for the system known as the Vehicle Stability Assist to apply the brakes on its own under certain conditions. No crashes due to the bug had been reported.

Deaths and injuries in Wisconsin car accident

Two women were traveling east on State Highway 16 in a black Nissan when their car left the road and crossed over the median of the highway where they ran into an oncoming vehicle. The accident occurred in Waukesha County on Sept. 9. Both the women in the Nissan died as a result of the crash.

The crash occurred just after noon and involved three motorcycles and a truck. According to initial reports about the accident, one of the motorcycles crossed the highway's center line and collided with the truck. On August 7, 2013, a 61-year-old man from Tomah, Wisconsin, was critically injured after running a stop sign in his minivan and crashing into the side of a refrigerated truck. The 23-year-old driver of the truck did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was treated at St. Mary's Hospital, while the critically injured driver was evacuated by helicopter to an undisclosed Madison hospital following the collision.

One person injured in Wisconsin car accident

A Milwaukee man is facing DUI charges following a two-car accident that sent the other driver to the hospital. He had a 14-year-old passenger with him at the time of the auto accident. The 14-year-old was not injured; the three children in the other car were not reported to have suffered any injuries either.

Fatal auto accidents linked to cellphones may be underreported

The number of fatal car crashes caused by distracted driving in Wisconsin and across the country may be much higher than originally thought. The National Safety Council, an advocacy group, recently released its findings from a study of state and federal data on auto accidents from 2009 to 2011. The group found that out of 180 car crashes in which there was strong evidence that the driver had been using a cell phone, less than half were recorded in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's database as having involved a cellphone.

One killed and two babies injured in car accident

According to authorities, a 23-year-old Wisconsin man who had allegedly been involved in an accident that took the life of a 21-year-old woman turned himself in to the Beloit police. When he turned himself in, the man was in the company of an attorney and invoked his Miranda rights. He was arrested for negligent homicide and is being held in the Rock County Jail. An initial court appearance was scheduled.

Future of Wisconsin intersection unclear after several accidents

An intersection in the town of Brussels is getting plenty of attention these days, and it was even set to be discussed at the April 4 Door County Highway Safety Commission meeting. After more than 20 vehicular accidents occurred at the junction over a span of just five years, many are starting to think the intersection of County C and Wisconsin 57 is simply accident-prone. Set to appear at the meeting was an engineer from the state's Department of Safety. The possibility of making "J-intersections" at the intersection was on the table as an option. These "intersections" would have drivers go past the physical intersection and then loop back around to get to their destination. One Brussels Town board member said that this option could actually make the problem worse, however, for semi-trucks and vehicles with large cargo.
