Automobile insurance is one of those grown-up topics that isn't that much fun to think about. We all know we should have insurance (it is the law!), we all want to pay reasonable rates, and we all see a lot of insurance company commercials promising stellar service or cheaper prices. While getting good service at a decent price is important, it is crucial to review your automobile insurance coverage to make sure you and your family are adequately protected.
Attorney Amy Risseeuw is on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the chair of their 2nd Annual Viva Las Vegas Shining Bright for Youth Casino Night fundraiser. The fundraiser will take place an Friday, November 8, 2013, from 7:00 p.m to 11:00 p.m. at Waverly Beach in Menasha.
Peterson Berk & Cross attorney Amy Risseeuw was recently named as a member of The National Trial Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40. Amy is one of only 40 trial lawyers from the State of Wisconsin to be chosen for membership into this group of influential and accomplished young trial lawyers.
After settling an automobile accident case for the defendant's entire limit of liability insurance, PBC client John Steffens was summarily ordered by the trial court to repay almost $65,000.00 to his health insurance carrier, to reimburse it for back surgery Mr. Steffens endured long after the accident. Working as a team, PBC Attorneys John Peterson, Amy Risseeuw, and Summer Associate Emily Lonergan pursued a successful appeal in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. The Court held that the funds did not have to be repaid, and that the case must be sent back for trial where the health carrier will have the burden of proving that the surgery was caused by the accident. The Court of Appeals' decision, dated August 3, 2010, can be found here.
