Motorcycle Safety Tips

On behalf of Peterson, Berk & Cross, S.C.

May marked Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, and looking out for motorcyclists on the road continues to be increasingly important as warmer weather approaches.

Unfortunately, drivers do not always respect motorcyclist’s right to be one the road. Crashes often occur when motorcyclists are hidden in a car’s blind spot. It is important for drivers to check their blind spot before switching lanes.

David Teater, senior director of Transportation Initiatives states, “Throughout spring and summer the number of motorcyclists on the road will increase. It is important for both motorists and motorcyclists to be aware of one another… To better defend themselves, motorcyclists should follow the rules of the roadway and wear protective gear, including a Department of Transportation compliant helmet.”
