When a person is accused of a crime, there are multiple, potentially life changing decisions that must be made. Unfortunately, many people do not have the legal training or experience to fully understand the potential implications of their choices. In fact, a man is now likely wondering about his legal options now that he faces criminal charges following his recent arrest in Wisconsin.
The man’s arrest followed an incident that happened during the early morning hours of a day late October. Police say they received a call from a woman indicating that she was in a truck in a driveway and someone had just fired a weapon into the back of the truck, striking the driver in the back of the head. Though the woman did not know where she was, police were able to find her by using her cellphone coordinates.
The woman, who was uninjured in the incident, told police that she and the victim met a man at a bar who was celebrating his birthday. She says that they gave the man a ride to a cabin he was reportedly staying at because he was too intoxicated to drive. Once there, all three allegedly went inside an RV parked nearby and continued celebrating. Her report indicates they stayed for approximately 45 minutes.
The alleged victim, a 47-year-old man, is in critical condition. Wisconsin police have since taken a man into custody in connection with the shooting. He faces criminal charges of attempted first-degree intentional homicide, felon in possession of a firearm and endangering safety by intoxicated use of a firearm. Despite the potential charges, there are many details about the incident that are unclear, including a possible motive. Regardless of the accusations made, there must be sufficient evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
