It seems to be a fact of modern life that nearly every driver will, at some point, be involved in a car crash. The hope is that, if it occurs, it won’t be serious enough to result in injury, but unfortunately, that doesn’t always happen. A recent car accident here in Wisconsin left two people injured, and if that wasn’t concerning enough, police report that it was due to a hit-and-run driver.
The crash happened on a recent afternoon on a county highway. Officers say that a pickup truck was traveling north when it crossed over the center line. The truck apparently struck a car and an SUV. Authorities say that the pickup driver left the scene of the crash, but was located soon afterwards.
As for the people in the other vehicles, the driver of the car, a woman, was rushed to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. The driver of the SUV, also a woman, required medical treatment, but has since been released. Authorities say that they are still investigating exactly what happened in the crash and will release their findings once the investigation is complete. There is no word yet on whether the driver of the pickup truck will face any criminal charges.
Even if authorities determine that the man driving the truck should face criminal charges, that may not be the only way to hold him or another culpable party responsible for the car accident. The victims could file a personal injury claim against anyone deemed at fault for the collision. An attorney here in Wisconsin can be an advocate for anyone in a similar situation.
