Utility truck accident kills man, dog in Wisconsin

Drivers in Wisconsin and across the country encounter a variety of different traffic signs and signals each time they get behind the wheel of a vehicle. For drivers with years of experience, it is often second nature to obey. Unfortunately, an oversight, such as failing to stop at a stop sign, can have serious consequences. In fact, a man and his dog were reportedly killed in a recent truck accident involving a utility vehicle.

The incident reportedly happened during the morning hours of a day in January. According to reports, the driver of an Alliant Energy truck did not stop at a stop sign. As a result, the truck is said to have struck a sedan.

Unfortunately, the 66-year-old driver of the sedan and his dog died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the truck as uninjured. Reports indicate that roads were closed for approximately three hours while first responders were on the scene. While it is unclear if criminal charges are anticipated, the incident likely remains under investigation; reports indicate that the truck driver is cooperating.

A representative for Alliant claims that the company is also conducting an internal investigation into the incident. In the meantime, the family of the deceased Wisconsin man are now left facing the unexpected death of their loved one. While they have the option of filing a wrongful death lawsuit, they may struggle to fully understand how to take action and to identify all parties who hold responsibility -- potentially including both the driver and his employer. Fortunately, there are professionals with experience with such cases who can help.
