Most people don’t think that something bad will happen to them when they take a trip away from home. As you drive along the interstates, you likely expect that other drivers are being just as careful as you are. Accidents will happen, but senseless accidents caused by careless drivers shouldn’t happen. For one Wisconsin man, driving through another state ended in him being involved in a deadly car accident.

The 45-year-old man was on Interstate 20 near Pecos, Texas, when the car accident occurred at around 3:30 in the afternoon. Vehicles in the right lane of the interstate were stopped because of an accident. The victim’s 2013 Chrysler SUV was hit by a semi-truck that was traveling too fast for the road conditions. The man’s vehicle was pushed under the trailer of another semi-truck that was stopped on the roadway. The Chrysler then caught on fire, which damaged other vehicles involved in a chain-reaction accident. The man from Wisconsin who was driving the Chrysler later died, but no one else was injured in the accident.

The family of the man who died now has to learn how to walk the journey of life without him. When the police report for the accident is released, the family members might be able to use the information in it as part of a case to seek compensation for their loss. However, citations or criminal charges filed against the at-fault driver are not a requirement for a personal injury lawsuit to be successful.

Advice from a legal professional with experience in wrongful death cases may help those who have lost a loved one due to another person’s negligence or recklessness know how to pursue compensation for their losses.
