Firefighter killed in Wisconsin highway accident

A crash under investigation on Highway O in Lake Mills resulted in the death of a Jefferson firefighter, according to law enforcement authorities. The crash occurred just after noon and involved three motorcycles and a truck. According to initial reports about the accident, one of the motorcycles crossed the highway's center line and collided with the truck. The remaining motorcycles crashed while attempting to avoid the initial accident.

Wisconsin woman dead after Highway 23 crash

A woman was charged with vehicular homicide after witnesses claim to see her pass a line of cars and run into an oncoming vehicle that was being driven by a 53-year-old woman. The 53-year-old woman ended up being ejected from her vehicle and died at the scene.

Crash critically injures Wisconsin man

On August 7, 2013, a 61-year-old man from Tomah, Wisconsin, was critically injured after running a stop sign in his minivan and crashing into the side of a refrigerated truck. The 23-year-old driver of the truck did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was treated at St. Mary's Hospital, while the critically injured driver was evacuated by helicopter to an undisclosed Madison hospital following the collision.

Wisconsin woman dies in assisted living center

The mother of a woman who died in a Wisconsin assisted living center is suing the group home for damages. The woman's daughter was 49-years-old and was mildly mentally disabled, developmentally disabled and had a schizoaffective disorder due to brain damage from being in the birth canal too long. Her death was caused by choking on a bagel.

One in four operating room errors related to equipment

Wisconsin residents scheduled to undergo surgery may be troubled by the findings in a report published by the British Medical Journal, or BMJ. Researchers found that one in four operating room errors were caused by issues with technology or problems with equipment. The report went on to note that these errors, and the subsequent claims of medical malpractice, could be cut in half if hospitals used equipment checklists before beginning an operation.
