One killed and two babies injured in car accident

According to authorities, a 23-year-old Wisconsin man who had allegedly been involved in an accident that took the life of a 21-year-old woman turned himself in to the Beloit police. When he turned himself in, the man was in the company of an attorney and invoked his Miranda rights. He was arrested for negligent homicide and is being held in the Rock County Jail. An initial court appearance was scheduled.

The man arrested and another suspect were allegedly driving a rental car southbound on Yates Avenue when the accident occurred. According to police the car was traveling at high speed and ran stop sign at Copeland Avenue, where it hit another vehicle that overturned.

According to the Rock County Coroner's Office, the young woman died from the trauma of the crash. Three other people were in the car, including two babies. They were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The second suspect is still at large and wanted by the police. Before the accident, the arrested man was already wanted by the Rock County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for other violations.

If allegations against the suspects prove to be correct, this is a tragic case of egregious negligence. If convicted, it will be some comfort knowing that two irresponsible people will be in prison for a long time. Nothing, however, can compensate the young woman's family for their terrible loss. Her family and the other victims should know that legal help is available for people who have suffered personal injury due to car accidents.
