Wisconsin SUV rollover crash leaves 1 dead, 4 injured

A collision between a truck and an SUV in Gordon left one person dead and four others injured. The crash is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Police.

The accident happened on the morning of Nov. 29 at around 7:00 a.m. when a truck collided with a sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Highway 53 and County Road Y. The impact of the collision propelled the SUV off the road where it rolled over and three of its four occupants were thrown out of the vehicle. A 31-year-old Minnesota man died at the scene and a 69-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital with critical injuries. The remaining two occupants of the SUV and the driver of the truck involved in the crash sustained injuries that were non-life-threatening.

Persons who are involved in catastrophic car crashes might sustain severe blunt force trauma to the head, neck and spine which may leave them with permanent disabilities, including paralysis and diminished cognitive function. In addition to the emergency medical care provided at the time of the event, some may require years of medical treatment and rehabilitative and therapeutic care.

Those accident victims who formerly enjoyed an active and independent lifestyle often find themselves in need of constant oversight and assistance to carry out basic personal care. Employed accident victims may suffer a loss of wages and benefits, and may not be able to continue working in the profession of their choice.

If lives are lost in such accidents, like in the case above, the families of the victims may also find themselves suffering from financial uncertainty and a decreased quality of life. Those families may be able to file a wrongful death claim in civil court that might lead to monetary awards.
